Welcome!

With over 13 years experience in the educational field, I have dedicated my career to promoting educational equity in in-person and virtual learning spaces. As a former educator and student success coach, I am passionate about helping young people plan for their post-secondary and post-undergraduate lives, particularly those from historically marginalized populations. Currently, I'm pursuing my Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction (Urban Education) at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Research Interests

My research is centered on inclusive socio-emotional and physical safety in urban schools. Through this lens, I investigate the psychological and post-secondary effects of the under-protection and criminalization of marginalized student populations, particularly examining the intersections of race, gender/gender-presentation, sexuality, and socioeconomic status while exploring solutions that create liberating educational spaces.

Recent research has also focused on STEM education equity for girls of color.

"Give light and people will find the way." - Ella Baker

As a success coach and educator, I see myself as the light that allows my students to see their full potential. There is something so magical about watching a scholar realize their passions and even through the ups and downs, finds a way to walk in their purpose. I work with students to set a tangible roadmap of short-term and long-term benchmarks to meet their goals. I believe the most important step is the follow-up. Young people thrive when educators have high standards and stay in a student's corner-- no matter what.

As an educational researcher, I am passionate about producing accessible research that aids in closing the opportunity gap. While it is important to call out inequities, it is far more crucial to be as solutions-oriented as possible. Once we uncover what's going on, the "now what" must spring into action. My research endeavors constantly fuel my advocacy, service, and community outreach.
